KREATOR, DESTRUCTION Tour Manager Sets Record Straight About Cancelled New York Gig
September 23, 2002The tour manager for KREATOR and DESTRUCTION has issued a statement regarding the two groups' cancellation of last week's gig in Poughkeepsie, New York. It reads as follows:
"I am the tour manager for both KREATOR and DESTRUCTION, and I am writing this to clear up all the confusion and falsities that exist about what occurred with Sunday's show.
"The band is disappointed that they were unable to perform for their fans in Poughkeepsie and apologize to all who came to see them.
"Contrary to what I have read on [the two groups' official web sites], the band was originally scheduled to play in The Loft at the Chance (which is a brand new room at the facility and as yet, has not opened for performances). The show was to be the first show ever in the room, but unfortunately the club was not issued building code permits to conduct business by the time we arrived at noon on Sunday. The room that the club offered as an alternate for the evening's performance was not equipped to facilitate this type of music. The stage in the room (as measured by myself and my crew) is 9 x 13. This is slightly larger than a standard drum riser. There are walls on either side of the stage, which prohibited any ability to expand the stage area. On top of this, the room is legally zoned to accommodate a maximum of 50 people. The pre-sale amount of tickets sold already exceeded this amount at the time we arrived. Without any further explanation needed, you can see that it was not possible for this room to accommodate KREATOR, DESTRUCTION, CEPHALIC CARNAGE, DECEMBER, and their fans.
"Again, the bands wish to express their sincerest apologies to all of those who showed up for the evening's performance.
"In addition, the person who posted comments masquerading as the evening's promoter is a fraud. You can chose to believe what you want, but [KREATOR frontman] Mille himself was concerned enough about fans' perception of what occurred last [weeks] to ask me to try and clarify and explain our situation. At the conclusion of the tour, when Mille has the time, he will put his official thoughts on this situation up here on [the official message] board for all to see."
